COVID-19 and Breton Village Pediatrics and Family Medicine

Like most of the US, Breton Village Pediatrics and Family Medicine will be making changes to try to limit the spread of infection in our community and follow the recommendations of public health officials. Thank you for your understanding as we work together to remain open for you and your children.

• Children have mild COVID-19 disease – Thankfully children (<20 years) have had mild disease – fever (often less than 24 hours), cough, sore throat. There is no treatment for Coronavirus. The best thing to do is stay home. Call only if your child/adult is acting sick (respiratory distress, dehydration, fever of 4 or more days, etc.)

• Well Visits & Yearly Physicals: At this time, we will continue to see well children and adults for yearly physicals. We are separating healthy and sick visits – both by times of the day and also by location within the office.

• Clinic: Our clinic will run on a call ahead basis (can be from the parking lot) to keep our staff and healthy patients healthy. Phones will go on at 7:30 - patients who have cough and fever will be asked to speak to a nurse before entering the office.

• Please call before entering the office.

• Waiting room is closed: We have packed up the books & toys, and we are not using the waiting room. Call the office when you arrive for your appointment and stay in your car until we get you.

• Avoid coming in: When available, healthy siblings should not come to appointments. If your child is overall acting well – despite fever or cough, please do not come in. ERs and Urgent Cares will also turn away well-acting patients with fever and cough.

• Virtual visits: When possible, we will arrange telemedicine visits with a doctor to keep you away from illness. Please download the Chiron health App to your phone to be ready. Yet an actual appointment must be requested by phone.

• Patience: Thank you so much for your patience. Our staff is working extra hard to keep our facility clean and to be available to answer your questions. We appreciate your understanding.

We would like to remind you that COVID-19 does not appear to pose serious risk to most children. Practice good hand washing, try to avoid touching your face, and stay home as much as possible.
